This very feminine stone became her trademark, combined with her belief that “ There is nothing more beautiful than the glow and luster of a AAA pearl to compliment any skin tone and complexion”. Over the years pearls became her favorite gemstone to work with. Using her own style she began to blend these ancient natural stones with modern European contemporary design, creating a unique brand of truly one of a kind custom handcrafted jewelry. Fascinated with turquoise, the Native American Heritage, and the many natural stones of the Southwest, Marlena began taking trips to local mines to examine and learn about local gemstones. As a self taught Silver Smith, during the 1990’s Marlena began designing and handcrafting her first jewelry pieces. Marlena moved to the US in 1982, choosing Arizona is her new home. During that time was also a art and tattoo designer for over 6 years and joined in the summer of 2019.Born in 1962 in Gdansk, Poland, Marlena Winiarska started her artistic career as a child, attending music school where she learned to play the piano.
Ian graduated from Red Rocks Community College specializing in business management. After working and learning under three master jewelers he opened Mountain Gems in spring of 2018.
